Financial Studies is offered at Key Stage Five at Chelmer Valley High School.

The Certificate in Financial Studies course that they study will help develop the knowledge and skills required to make informed financial decisions by exploring the risks and challenges involved in personal finance and the need for effective planning throughout their lifes.

Students are encouraged to become responsible borrowers, sensible savers, and have an appreciation of the need for financial planning throughout their life. You will learn to select appropriate solutions from the various choices available within the evolving and competitive financial services marketplace.

The course will prepare students for further study through the development of the core skills of critical analysis and evaluation, synthesis, verbal communication (through classroom discussion) and written communication.

In year 13 students cover financial requirements for medium and long term so will look at things like mortgages and investments.
