Reverse Advent Calendar

This year at Chelmer Valley High school, students have got involved with the reverse advent calendar once more. The reverse advent calendar is where students were challenged to bring in and give an item of food or toiletries during the month of December, instead of just receiving gifts through advent.

Chelmsford foodbank help people who may be going hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill and Christmas can be a particularly hard time of year for some families.

It was launched in house assemblies and the students have really got involved donating 1008 items for Chelmsford Food Bank! Two students in particular went above and beyond - Sophie McCall in year 7 and Isabelle Joyce in year 8, both made huge individual donations - Sophie donated 80 items and Izzy donated 69 items.

The items all students and staff have donated will really make a difference to the local community to people who find themselves in desperate situations at this time of year. Chelmer Valley staff and students are very proud of what we have achieved and the difference we have made and would like to thank everyone who has supported the reverse advent calendar this year.

Merry Christmas and happy new year from everyone at Chelmer Valley.
