Daniel Boreham Memorial Match

The sixth form vs teachers match, a highly anticipated game watched by the CVHS crowd. This game is a special game which both teachers and students look forward to every year, in memory of Daniel Boreham, a former student here.

The game started off highly competitive with chances at either end and the closest chance going to Mr Wareham. With the half drawing on a 50/50 challenge from Mr Hannan and Frank Large ended in the only way possible.....Frank hobbling off.

The second half started with the students looking the more likely to score with chances from Dan Hogg going over from close range later to be told that Mr Hannan had pushed it over the bar.  Furthermore, a penalty shout from the students as there was a push potentially in the area but was given as a freekick.  The game was soon to be flipped on its head, as Mr Regan found himself with a lot of room in the middle of the park and picked out a scrumptious ball over the top of the defence to Mr Wareham and even with his bad hips he managed to comfortably take it round Danny Peirce in goal and slot it home to put the teachers ahead, this was however followed by a rather over the top celebration, imitating the man himself Cristiano Ronaldo, some say there are some similarities, I repeat some.

With the teachers one nil up the students had to do something quick with a few minutes left they won the ball in midfield and broke quickly with Olly Lawrenece finding a pass through to Jacob Wade, who was one on one with Mr Hannan, who of course saved the teachers again! However, it was not over there with the ball falling to the feet of the captain, Alfie Halliday, who finishes these sort of shots for breakfast, had a glorious chance to score but unfortunately put it over the bar. It was heads in hands for the students. Their dream of beating the teachers was now over.

The game finished one nil with Mr Wareham getting the match winner, with the man of the match going to Mr Hannan, which it is safe to say that he kept them in the game.

Although the disappointment for the students the game was played in increUntitleddible spirit and we as a school managed to to raise over £200 for Cardiac Risk in the the Young(CRY). Thank you to everyone who donated.
