Marconi winners of the house competition 2010 & 2011
I am pleased to be able to write that we have now won the overall house championship for the second year in a row. We won this year due to the team spirit of those in M, everyone has taken part from year 7 to year 13, teachers and support staff. Every little helps from the maths teasers the staff do to the credits and sporting competitions that everyone has entered.
Thanks
Mrs Cook
I hope you agree from the picture on this page we have a lot of team spirit.

Marconi latest Fundraising news.......
Have a Heart M’s House Charity
We have also raised over £500 during the last four years for our chosen charity Have a Heart from the cake sales, non uniform day last term and copper collections from the form groups. Also one girl in year 7 was able to raise over £75 for the charity which is fantastic just be being silent for a day.
Have a Heart is all about making a difference to the lives of local kids in our communities.
In these difficult times, it’s even tougher for the most vulnerable in our communities – the kids. Bring the Heart back into their lives, support Have a Heart and change the lives of local children for the better.
Helping the Community
June 2008 - Some members of Marconi took part in a litter pick down the paths to the hospital and the church in Broomfield. This was done in partnership with Jackie Lane, NEAT Officer from Chelmsford Borough Council who provided all the safety equipment. The 21 students who took part in the litter pick were doing this to help the local community and have also raised money for the Essex fm charity 'Essex Kids'. In total 30 bags of rubbish were collected and the students really enjoyed helping the local community with the public even saying thank you to them while on the litter pick.
CHELMER VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL AND STOP THE TRAFFIK
Students from Chelmer Valley High School mainly from Marconi learnt about people trafficking in their school assemblies. Miss Pembroke sent out postcards to all the forms so that they could get involved with the project. Over 500 students signed declaration cards and put them up on a Freedom Wall which was at the back of Miss Pembroke’s room. Once they were all up and the wall was finished it was time to get the cards back down and sent off to Stop the Traffik so that the government can see how much support there is for solving this problem.

History of Marconi
Guglielmo Marconi
Born Apr 25 1874 - Died Jul 20 1937
Transmitting Electrical Radio Signals
In 1895 Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi built the equipment and transmitted electrical signals through the air from one end of his house to the other, and then from the house to the garden.
Following the successes of his experiments at home, Marconi became obsessed with the idea of sending messages across the Atlantic.
On December 12, 1901, he received signals from across the ocean. News of this achievement spread around the world. He later received the Nobel Peace Prize.
