Science Mural (May 2010)
Art and Science Collide!!
Art and Science have recently joined forces to create a stunning new mural for the Science Department. Twelve Gifted and Talented artists were given the brief to come up with ideas for a welcome mural to represent the three science disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The week before half term was earmarked for the painting of the wall out side the Science office. The artists were divided into two work parties, called Sun and Earth. They then took it in turns to transform a blank wall into a work of art.

In 2009, The English Department set the Art Department a task to brighten up the English/Humanities corridor.
The design for the mural was set as a competition for all of the Gifted and Talented KS3 students, with the idea that 'reading can transport you to a different place.'
The 12 best entries were chosen and those students put all their best ideas together to come up with a final design.
The concept is that the two girls reading in the library at the front have a rainbow coming from the back of their heads transforming the left hand side of the painting into a fantasy realm. On the right hand side a double decker bus has burst through the wall transporting literary characters to their destination being the English department.
Year 7 students: Ned Farrugia, Sophie Cook and Elizabeth Reason.
Year 8 students: Charlotte Ellis, Michelle Strom and Amy Temple.
Year 9 students: Emily Collier, Emma Quilter, Lauren Tween, Laura Bancroft, Caitlin Scott and Ryan Condron
