The Key Stage Three Scheme of work covers three broad themes of Human Figure, Still Life and Abstract Art. Students work on drawings, pastels, paintings, printing, sculptures, (using clay, wire and plaster and card) and use a range of ICT in their work.

They look at artists such as Picasso, Rousseau and Dali as well as Art from other cultures and have the opportunity to enjoy Art trips to The Fitzwilliam Museum, The Henry Moore Foundation or the Tate Britain.

Students have worked with our visiting Artist in Residence on two mosaic pieces, (the Engineering Timeline in the hall and the Art Department sign) and further projects are planned for this year.

Art club is organised so students can work at lunchtime on class or homework.

Materials

All KS3 students need a 2B pencil, rubber and sharpener for use in school. Homework often involves the use of colour and each student should have water colour paints, paintbrushes and colouring pencils. The school provides a sketchbook that is used in class and for homework, but lost books need to be paid for at a cost of £1.
