Careers Education and Guidance is part of every student's entitlement. At Chelmer Valley the Careers Coordinator works closely with the Heads of Year, Sixth Form and Tutors to ensure the implementation of the Careers Policy.

The Careers Library is fully resourced and is open to all students during lunchtimes. It meets the standard recommended by the Connexions service and DFES. The IT facilities include Fasttomato.com, introduced in Year 9, which is a web based programme providing students with career information, colleges etc. The benefits of being web based is that this programme can be used at home. Year 11 students are entitled to two week's experience of work. Preparation begins in the Spring term of Year 10. Trident coordinate all work placements and are invited to the school to speak to parents and students during January/February. Trident operates an online system which makes choice selection more accessible at school and at home. Trident-online
