Careers Coordinator - Mrs S Storer

Careers Education and Guidance is part of every student's entitlement.  At Chelmer Valley the Careers Coordinator works closely with the Heads of Year, Sixth Form and Tutors to ensure the implementation of the Careers Policy.  In November 2009 we were reaccredited with the Recognition of Quality Award for Careers Education and Guidance.

'Effective careers education and guidance is crucial to preparing young people for working life.  It helps ensure that they make the right choices about their learning and occupational options'. DFEE Circular

The Careers Library is fully resourced and is open to all students during lunchtimes.  The IT facilities include Fasttomato.com, introduced in Year 9, which is a web based programme providing students with career information, colleges etc.  The benefits of being web based is that this programme can be used at home. Fasttomato

Since the closure of Connexions we have hired a company called  'Directions' to provide impartial Careers Education & Guidance to students in groups and on a one-to-one basis.  Tom Forrester is the appointed careers adviser who previously worked in the school under Connexions.

Further information for young people can be found on the directgov website.

Year 9 'Which Way Now' & Year 11 'It's Your Choice' publications can be view in PDF format at the bottom of this page.
