KS5
There are two different courses available at KS5.
Theatre Studies - students have the opportunity to explore different areas of Drama and Theatre. ‘Oedipus’ and ‘The Crucible’ are studied at AS level, they also have to perform a play of their own choosing, and finally take a written exam. A2 sees the students working on devised performance where it is necessary to keep a structured record and also a comparative study of two versions of the same play. Throughout the course there is the opportunity to watch a variety of professional productions.
BTEC Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) - The one year course is the National Award (equivalent to 1 A Level) and the two year course is the National Certificate (equivalent to 2 A Levels). Acting, singing and choreography are all studied in mainly practical settings and there are many performance opportunities including a showcase and a full version of a musical.
