2011: Year 10 History Exam

The current Year 10 Students will be taking their GCSE exam in June 2011 as stated at options evening and to all students at the start of the year. Therefore can we ask for parents to help the students with their revision. Below are the topic areas that the exam covers.

 •The ParisPeace Treaties

•    The League of Nations

•    Causes of World War Two

•The USA1919-1941

They also have access to an internal site on the school intranet which has History pod casts, power points and worksheets to aid revision and also on Frog under GCSE History.

What is studied at KS4?

Attempts at disarmament in the 1930s. Abyssinia. Why the league failed. Causes of World War Two - Long term reasons.  Rhineland.  Anchluss.  Appeasement.  Sudetenland.  Nazi-Soviet pact.

Post war conferences: USSR gaining control of Eastern Europe.  Reaction of the west.  Berlin Blockade.  NATO.  Korea.  Containment? Arms race.  Cuban missile crisis.  Vietnam.  Rise of Khruschev.  Hungary.  Prague.  Berlin wall.  Détente.  Poland.  Collapse of Eastern European communism.  Collapse of the USSR.

Liberal Government:  The Liberal Government 1906-1918.  Self Help vs. Welfare State.  Should The State Intervene In Our Lives?  How effective were the liberal reforms introduced?
