KS4
We offer most students OCR Nationals for their GCSE ICT course. OCR Nationals are an exam-free alternative to GCSEs, taking a more engaging, practical approach to learning and assessment. This course is industry relevant and is well suited to a range of learning styles. The aim of this course is to encourage students to apply their ICT skills in a business environment and to use their designing computer graphics to produce good quality web graphics to fit the purpose and audience, as specified by the client. All students will produce work according to the scenario provided by the exam board.
For information on the OCR Nationals in ICT please click on the pdf document at the bottom of the page.
At the end of Year 9 students will complete most part of their first OCR Nationals module. Students need to complete one compulsory unit (Unit 1 Using ICT skills in Business) and an optional unit (Unit 21 Creating Computer Graphics) to achieve one GCSE qualification in ICT. At year 10, OCR Nationals students will proceed to complete the second module of their first GCSE course. Most students will achieve one qualification by the end of year 11. Some students may choose to continue with their second GCSE modules depending on ability and time.
All core students at Key Stage 4 receive two hours of ICT lessons fortnightly. Students who have opted ICT will receive five additional hours fortnightly.
