Year 11 Maths lesson
Dear Student,
The revision sessions shown below are run for your benefit and we would encourage you to attend. If you find they clash with another subject then you will need to prioritise – attend the sessions for the topics you know you really need.
Whilst we appreciate that transport home can be a problem, you will get the most from these sessions if you stay for the full time. Please try to arrange to do so if at all possible.
Each session will be run by different teachers, and will comprise some time revising what you should know followed by working on exam type questions with all the help you need.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Hints & Tips to help you get your best possible results
· Attend CVHS REVISION SESSIONS wherever possible.
· Attend any other revision events to which you have access.
· Plan your revision well ahead of the exams, make a timetable and try to stick to it. Remember to leave yourself some time to relax.
· Make sure you have all the materials you need: revision guides, past papers, exercise books etc.
· Keep a notebook beside you when revising, to write down any questions you need to ask a teacher. You know you’ll forget them if you don’t!
· Revise the topics you like least, or know least well, first – then they’re out of the way and not hanging over you like a cloud.
· Use varied methods of revision. Text & exercise books, past papers, revision guides, Sam Learning,
· Get plenty of sleep.
· Eat sensibly.
· Keep yourself hydrated – water is best; sugary drinks may give you some energy but they don’t do you as much good. Remember 1% dehydration means 10% loss of concentration.
· Allow your parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, neighbours – whoever – to help you if they have some expertise in the things you’re working on.
· Keep everything in perspective. Yes, these GCSEs are important, but you won’t do your best if you’re stressed out. If something is bothering you, tell someone and get it sorted so you can stop worrying and get on.
· Once you are in the exam, remember to read the questions carefully, and answer them fully. This is especially true in Maths where you should always write down your working - if you make a mistake in the calculation at least the examiner will know what you were trying to do and may well be able to give you some marks for that!
· Read the question again when you have done it, to make sure you haven’t left anything out.
· Try not to leave questions unanswered – you never know, you might just pick up a mark or two if you try.
· Always check through your answers when you have finished, if you have time.
GOOD LUCK!
