Extension activities
Apart from academic study the Science department offers many extracurricular activities such as a weekly Science club where students carry out individual projects working towards ‘BA Star’ awards. Extracurricular visits have included trips to GlaxoSmithKline to use industrial Chemistry laboratories, The Sanger Centre at Cambridge University to observe the Human Genome Project being carried out, The British Festival of Science at UEA and numerous visits to universities to allow students to use their top-class facilities. Visiting Scientists from places such as Cambridge and Oxford Universities also give up their time to work with our students and explain to them some of the cutting edge research they are involved in.
