Year 7 Science

Students study Science for 6 periods per fortnight and are taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics topics as part of a general Science curriculum. Students currently follow our own department scheme of work which is based on the QCA scheme.  Lessons are comprised of a variety of activities including traditional practical investigations, teacher and student-led discussion and student-centred activities. Computer software is also used extensively as a tool to explain difficult scientific concepts. Students are set according to ability but are able to move sets should there be a need for it. Student progress is assessed regularly; they are set a levelled task once per topic and their levels collated on a central database.
