Vocational GCSE in Business Studies
To suceed in this subject students need to have a good level of literacy and numeracy skills and to be able to work independently.
Unit 1 – Investigating How Businesses Work. Focuses on one local and one national business. This is an investigation into what business enterprise is all about. Includes ethical and green issues. Unit 1 represents 60% of the marks available and is assessed by controlled coursework tasks set by the exam board. They are based on the course content and how it relates to the two chosen businesses.
Unit 2 - Financial Records. Focuses on how businesses record their financial transactions. Students will learn about Profit and Loss and Balance Sheets within a business. Unit 2 represents 40% of the marks and is assessed in a 1 hour exam. There are multiple choice, short answer, and extended answer questions.
What is involved:
• Students will learn about and understand the world of business.
• They will develop skills in the financial aspects of business.
• Carry out research away from, as well as within the classroom.
• Learn through investigation rather than listening and reading
