What is a Vocational GCSE?
A vocational GCSE is a nationally recognised work-related qualification designed to provide you with a choice of routes into further education or employment. It is made up of three vocational units in a particular subject.
What is a double award?
A double award is a qualification equal to two GCSEs – it is twice the size of most GCSEs.
Vocational GCSE in Leisure & Tourism structure
Unit 1: Investigating Leisure and Tourism
The students are introduced to the Leisure and Tourism industries. They investigate the activities, products & services and facilities offered by a range of organisations. They investigate jobs in the leisure industry and tourism industry
Unit 2: Marketing in Leisure and Tourism
The marketing and promotional activities of a selected organisation are investigated and evaluated. The students have to design an item of promotional material.
Unit 3: Customer Service in Leisure and Tourism
The students evaluate the effectiveness of customer service provided by a selected organisation, they have to demonstrate personal customer service skills through work simulation activities.

Unit 1: Investigating Health, Social Care and Early Years Provision.

Vocational GCSE in Business Studies
Unit 1: Investigating Business
This helps students learn about different types of businesses, what departments make up the business, what activities they carry out and why they locate in certain places.
Unit 2: People and Business
People are the most valuable resource for any business. This unit helps students to learn about and to understand the roles played by people with different interests in the business.
Unit 3: Business Finance
Students learn about the costs and revenues of businesses and how these figures can be included in profit and loss accounts. Students also learn to calculate the point at which business will break even.
