20 students from Year 9 were invited to the 70th anniversary of Dunkirk. They took part in some of the ceremonies and spoke to some of the veterans who had witnessed first hand the events of that day 70 years ago. |

The first ever CVHS Musical Theatre Showcase was a great success! The students from year 7 to 13 performed pieces from Les Miserables, Wicked, Mamma Mia, Beauty and the Beast, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Sister Act and The Lion King. |

Students from all years took two well known stories by Lewis Carroll and turned them into a magical play with a minimalistic set, made by the gifted and talented art students. The show took place in March and was produced by Jo Dennis and Gemma Peacock. |

The last day of term students and staff battled the snow, in costume, to raise money for their house charities. A total of £700 was raised for Helen Rollason, Dream 107 kid's Trust, Chelmsford Mencap, Essex Ambulance, Have a Heart and Jay's Hospice. Thank you to all for your support. |

The BAE systems and RAF Roadshow visited our Year 7's on Friday 2nd October. Their tour brought science and engineering to life through theatre and an interactive workshop. Eid Celebration|

To celebrate the end of Ramadan we held an Eid Party on Friday 25th September. 12 staff and 38 students turned up in T7 to celebrate Eid with their Muslim teachers and friends. There were many authentic foods from around the world to celebrate the occasion. We had Mauritian Briani, Malaysian noodles, Algerian desserts and Bangalie chickpeas curry. Mrs Uddin even had the time to put henna on some students hands! |

Year 5 Girls in Engineering Green Week|

Each year at Chelmer Valley High School we invite all of our feeder primaries to send their Year 5 girls to take part in an engineering event. This years theme was Green Engineering and the girls were asked to bring a selection of carrier bags with them for a mystery challenge! Friday 13th March at Chelmer Valley was alive with students and staff dressed up in their house themes; Cross Dressing, 8o's Gear, Stripes & Spots, Musical & Movie Celebrities, Outer Space & Bright, Clashing Colours. We raised £1022.43!!! |

On Friday 10th October the Arc Theatre group presented 'The bus terminates here' to our year 8 students. This was fun and interactive morning where the students learnt about safety & behaviour on the school buses. The event was attended by The Mayor and Mayoress and many other VIP guests. |

Year 2 Mini Games|

All year 2 pupils in our six feeder primary schools (Broomfield, Boreham, Ford End, Great Leighs, Great Waltham and Little Waltham) took part in the first ever Mini Games on Friday 13th June. All events were officiated by our year 10 sports leaders. The events were both competitive and non-competitive. Every school represented a different country that would normally compete in an Olympic Games. Great Leighs represented New Zealand and won the event. To celebrate they performed the Haka. It was a great day at the Chelmsford Sports & Athletics Centre and we look forward to another great event next year. |

Emerging Schools Rugby Festival Yr7 and 8|

Chelmer Valley High School took part in the Yr7, 8 and 9 RFU Emerging Schools Rugby Festival. All teams performed well with the Year 8's reching the final and the Year 9 team becoming champions. The Year 9's will now compete in the East Regional Competition |
