Ramadan
28th September 2009
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is known as the month of fasting in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and indulging in anything that is in excess or ill-natured; from dawn until sunset. Fasting is meant to teach the Muslim patience, modesty and spirituality. To celebrate the end of Ramadan we held an Eid Party on Friday 25th September.
12 staff and 38 students turned up in T7 to celebrate Eid with their Muslim teachers and friends. There were many authentic foods from around the world to celebrate the occasion. We had Mauritian Briani, Malaysian noodles, Algerian desserts and Bangalie chickpeas curry. Mrs Uddin even had the time to put henna on some student’s hands!
Eid Mubarak,
Mr Hoozeer, Miss Uddin and Mrs Hammoudi
