Talented

Talented linguists are identified during Year 7 and in Year 8 are selected for the Talented Scheme for MFL. Each student is supplied with a booklet of challenges which is monitored throughout the year by their language teacher. The department facilitates the achievement of some of the challenges by offering sessions in languages not taught within the curriculum, such as Mandarin Chinese, Russian, sign language and making a film in a foreign language. In Year 9 students have had the opportunity to visit Chelmsford County High School for a 'Languages Day', where students have taster sessions in Chinese, Italian, Swedish Grammar, Latin Roots and Etymology. A small number of talented linguists are studying for public examinations in addition to their normal lessons.
