About Us

Initial Teacher Training

We are committed to Teacher Training and work with a large group of schools ensuring training opportunities are vast and varied drawing on a wealth of experience.

Mid Essex ITT has been training teachers for over 20 years. We offer School Direct, School Direct (salaried), and School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) courses in a wide range of subjects. We are based at Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form with our trainees placed in schools all over Essex.  We are currently looking for the trainee teachers of 2016-2017.

Chelmer Valley High School is a Good (Ofsted 2013) 11-18 Comprehensive School with Academy status, in Chelmsford, Essex. We have an excellent record of Initial Teacher Training involvement and many of our current staff have been trained at the school through the Mid-Essex and Essex Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP), the School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme and via the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) route with several local universities.

We run our own Induction and Professional Studies programme for all ITTs, NQTs and Early Years teachers, as well as involving all our trainees in the whole school INSET and training programme.

The programme is open to graduates with a 2:1 in the subject they wish to teach and is funded by tuition fees paid by the trainee, although some trainees may be eligible for a bursary from the Teaching Agency (T.A.).

High priority subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Modern Foreign Languages will attract higher bursaries but there may also be support for Art, Technology, English, Computer Studies and Religious Education as well as several other subjects.  (Please see the T.A. website for more information).

In September 2014 we hope to have several trainee teachers using this route at Chelmer Valley High School.  We are particularly keen to recruit trainees in Chemistry, Physics and English but we may well choose to undertake to train staff in other priority areas as well.

For further details please contact Mrs S Fox, Associate Leader Staff Training, at the school.                           sfox@chelmer.essex.sch.uk
