Welcome to Chelmer Valley High School

Recent news:   The New Year started very well for Headteacher, David Franklin, who was invited to a drinks reception on Monday 11th January with The Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP at No. 10 Downing Street. The invitation was to celebrate the achievements of the most improved schools in the country and the raising of educational standards.

Based in Chelmsford, in Essex, Chelmer Valley High School can provide the best possible education for students aged between 11 and 18.

We place a great deal of emphasis on academic success at GCSE, A level and in the vocational area. High expectations also extend to social and moral issues as we seek to produce well rounded adults, whose mature behaviour reflects their self respect.

'CHELMER VALLEY is a vibrant and dynamic school that has not stood still since the last inspection.  The school judges its effectiveness to be good but, because so much of its work is exemplary, inspectors judge it to be outstanding'.

2009 EXAMINATION RESULTS!

We are absolutely delighted with this year’s results in both GCSE and A level examinations!

GCSE

Once again we are very pleased with our GCSE results. 73% of our students achieved five or more GCSE subjects at Grades A*-C. Also 66% of our students achieved five or more GCSE subjects including English and Maths at the high grades. A significant number of students performed exceptionally well achieving 10 or more subjects at grades A or A*. Top performer was Rebecca Stephens who achieved grades A* in all her 13 subjects, the highest GCSE achievement in the school’s history. Results like these can only be achieved through the hard work of the students, the support of parents and high quality teaching from the staff.

A Level

The overall pass rate was 98% with 37% of the grades being A and B. 22 subjects (a school record) achieved a 100% pass rate. There were some exceptional results, the best being Richard Stephens who obtained A grades in 5 subjects; Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, French and Music. He is going to study Engineering at King’s College, Cambridge. Other top performers were Samantha Dordoy with 4 A grades, Stephanie Garrod with 3 A grades, and Nicola Lockwood, Jordan Peplow-Revell, Ken Thomson, James Cockburn, Mia Manzi-Davies and Katherine Heath all of whom achieved 2 A grades and a B grade.
