Chelmer Valley High School is a Good (Ofsted 2013) 11-18 Comprehensive School with Academy status, in Chelmsford, Essex. We have an excellent record of Initial Teacher Training involvement and many of our current staff have been trained at the school through the Mid-Essex, BEC and Essex Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP), the School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme and via the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) route with several local universities.

We run our own Induction and Professional Studies programme for all ITTs, NQTs and Early Years teachers, as well as involving all our trainees in the whole school INSET and training programme.

The programme is open to graduates with a good degree in the subject they wish to teach and is funded by tuition fees paid by the trainee, although some trainees may be eligible for a bursary.

High priority subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Modern Foreign Languages will attract higher bursaries but there may also be support for Art, Technology, English, Computer Studies and Religious Education as well as several other subjects.  (Please see the DfE website https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/funding-and-salary/overview for more information).

For further details please contact Mrs S Fox, Associate Leader Staff Training, at the school.   sfox@chelmer.essex.sch.uk
