Welcome to our Sixth Form
Why Choose Chelmer Valley Sixth Form?
Chelmer Valley Sixth Form offers much more than strong academic results. While students benefit from excellent teaching and dedicated facilities, they also gain access to a wide range of experiences that prepare them for life beyond school.
We encourage our students to aim high and work hard, but we also support them to grow as individuals. Sixth Form life here is about developing independence, confidence and ambition. Students take on greater responsibility, are encouraged to think for themselves, and are supported throughout their journey.
We understand that success is not just about exam results. That is why we offer a rich programme of additional studies and enrichment activities that help students broaden their outlook, build character and gain valuable skills for the future. Options include the Extended Project Qualification, Core Maths, Sports Leadership and the Arts Award. Each of these provides an extra qualification and helps students stand out.
Beyond the curriculum, students can take part in a wide variety of activities. These include the Bar Mock Trial competition, World Challenge expeditions, tutoring roles, student leadership and our Aspire programme for those applying to medicine, veterinary science or Oxford and Cambridge. There are also plenty of ways to unwind and recharge, with activities ranging from yoga and parkour to sports and career talks.
Careers guidance is a key part of our offer. Whether students are applying to university, considering apprenticeships or exploring employment, we provide tailored support through workshops, mentoring and work experience. We also host visits from universities and employers to help students make informed choices about their next steps.
We believe that happy students are successful students. Our Sixth Form is small enough to ensure every individual is known and supported. We offer personalised pastoral care and wellbeing programmes to help students thrive. With around 200 students, we provide a more personal experience than larger colleges. Your time here is shaped around your goals and interests.
