Cross Country Success

Chelmer Valley had both individual and team success at the recent Essex Schools Cross Country Championships which was held at Stubbers Outdoor Centre in Upminster. Over 800 students tackled the muddy course in fields and woods. In the Year 7 race Gabriella Bilbie ran an impressive race to earn the bronze medal and finish in 3rd place. As a result she has now been selected to represent Esssx at the inter-counties competition in March.

A further individual medal was won in the Year 8 boys race with Will Steadman coming home in first place to win the race and earn himself a gold medal. The Year 8 boys team followed Willl’s lead and Freddie Pheby ran an impressive race to finish 14th and Cooper Mills was closely behind in 19th. This meant all 3 boys have also been selected to represent Essex. Callum Raisborough, Daniel Taylor and Cody Skidmore were also key members of the Year 8 team and all their hard work and efforts were rewarded when the team came 2nd in the Championships. Miss Lyons said, "This is an amazing achievement to be crowned the 2nd best team in Essex and is testament to their dedication to cross country running."
