Initial Teacher Training
We are committed to teacher training and work with a large group of schools ensuring training opportunities are vast and varied drawing on a wealth of experience.
We work with three training providers, all offer school direct, school direct (salaried) and school centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) courses in a wide range of subjects.

Chelmer Valley High School is a Good (Ofsted 2013) 11-18 Comprehensive School with Academy status, in Chelmsford, Essex. We have an excellent record of Initial Teacher Training involvement and many of our current staff have been trained at the school through the Mid-Essex, BEC and Essex Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP), the School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme and via the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) route with several local universities.
We run our own Induction and Professional Studies programme for all ITTs, ECTs and Early Years teachers, as well as involving all our trainees in the whole school INSET and training programme.
The programme is open to graduates with a good degree in the subject they wish to teach and is funded by tuition fees paid by the trainee, although some trainees may be eligible for a bursary.
High priority subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Modern Foreign Laguages and others will attract bursaries. (Please see the DfE website https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/funding-and-support/scholarships-and-bursaries for more information).
